On April 29, the State Council promulgated the Proposals for Promoting Modern Services and Advanced Manufacturing Industries and Building International Financial and Shipping Centers in Shanghai. According to the proposals, China is aiming to make Shanghai an international financial center in accordance with the country's economic strength and the international status of its currency as well as a global shipping hub able to allocate international shipping resources by 2020.

It is in accordance with the spirit of this proposal that Shanghai Customs approached the EU Chamber seeking for international best practices and recommendations for Customs to help Shanghai build into the international shipping hub. EU Chamber applauded the initiative from Shanghai Customs. Logistics member company of the EU Chamber, Maersk Logistics and DHL shared international experience on how to build up a world-class hub from the shipping as well as the express delivery perspective. Chair and Vice Chairs of the Logistics Working Group Shanghai also presented at the Seminar as penalists to assist Q&A.

Over 40 staff from Shanghai Airport Customs, Waigaoqiao Customs, Yangshan Customs attended the training at the premises of Customs on 5th June. The seminar was concluded by a dynamic and open Q&A session.

Both sides highly commended the direct and in-depth exchanges on this regard and remain committed to more communications and cooperations in the near future.
