European Chamber meets with the Shanghai Foreign Investment Commission (SFIC)

On Wednesday August 2nd, a delegation from the European Chamber including the General Manager, Thomas Felber, the Senior Business Manager Dr. Ioana Kraft and the Membership Manager, David Martin, were welcomed to the offices of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government Foreign Economic Relations & Trade Commission (SMERT).

The meeting was arranged to strengthen ties and increase active cooperation between the two organizations. The Chief Representative of SFIC, Mr. Zhang Rui, and his colleagues outlined much of what they are doing to help foreign companies enter the Chinese market. This includes: finding premises in Shanghai, recommending dependable consultants and service providers as well as access to relevant authorities. Mr. Zhang acknowledged the rapid growth and increased scope of the European Chamber. He and his organization consider the European Chamber to be playing an important part in supporting European industry in China.

After a very positive meeting, it is hoped to foster and develop a much closer and more concrete relationship with SMERT and SFIC. The goal here being to provide members with more important and relevant information for their everyday work.
