IPR WG Chairman presented Key Recommendations at Criminal IP Protection Forum

The European Chamber participated in the "2006 China Forum on Criminal IP Protection" on March, 31st and April, 1st in Shanghai. The forum was organised by the Shanghai Public Security Bureau and sponsored by the Ministry of Public Security and the State Office of IP Protection.

Douglas Clark, Chairman of the Shanghai IPR Working Group spoke to the over 200 delegates representing Chinese public security departments, judicial departments, administrative enforcement agencies, INTERPOL and other national and international law enforcement agencies as well as representatives of major international corporations. He presented the Key Recommendations made by the IPR Working Group in its 2005 Position Paper regarding the criminal protection of IP rights in China.

As a result of the Forum the "Shanghai Initiative" was signed with the aim to foster cooperation in the international fight against the violation of Intellectual Property Rights.
