European Chamber meets with the European Economic and Social Committee

On 21st June the European Chamber and representatives from the Human Resources, Corporate Social Responsibility and Intellectual Property Rights Working Groups met with a delegation from the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), headed by its President, Mr. Dimitris Dimitriadis.

The European Economic and Social Committee, based in Brussels, is a consultative body that gives representatives of Europe's socio-occupational interest groups, and others, a formal platform to express their points of views on EU issues. Its opinions are forwarded to the larger institutions - the Council, the Commission and the European Parliament. It thus has a key role to play in the Union's decision-making process.

At the briefing session, held at the South Wing of the European Delegation in Beijing, the EESC delegation had the opportunity to receive first hand information and insights from industry experts on topics such as staff retention, civil society groups, CSR practice in China and IPR protection.
