On June 21st the European Chamber held a seminar on Future Opportunities and Challenges for European companies in China. The interest for this seminar was very high and over 70 members were there to participate. The newly elected President of the European Chamber Mr. Joerg Wuttke held an introduction speech and mentioned the 5th Anniversary of the European Chamber Shanghai chapter, celebrated the day before. Mr. Miguel Ceballos from the Delegation of the European Commission to China held a presentation focusing on the present and future political scenarios of Sino-European ties. He was then followed by Mr. Philip Bartley, team leader of the EU-China Trade Project, who presented an analysis of the competetive status specific to 12 sectors. In terms of innovation, design and service quality (and many other aspects) European companies are strong competitors in the Chinese market and have great advantages compared to both national and international competitors operating in China.

The presentations were followed by a Q and A session, where the participants took advantage of the outstanding panel of speakers to ask specific questions.
