On 30th August 2007, after 13 years of legislative effort and debate, the first Anti-Monopoly Law in China will be promulgated. The new law that will come into effect on the 1st August 2007 establishes a legal framework for competition. It includes 8 chapters and 57 articles, covering various perspectives. Mr. Peter Corne, Managing Director of Eversheds LLP and Chairman of the European Chamber and Mr. Steve Yu, Senior Lawyer at Eversheds LLP have gave not only many valuable insides on proper perception of the law but also practical advice on how to address potential risks for your company.

The presentations where followed by a lively discussion during which members asked various questions with regards to the interpretation of the new law and its impact on various aspects of business. The Chamber?? Legal Working Group will continue to monitor developments related to this new law and especially the drafting process of the implementation rules for the Anti-Monopoly law and will provide comments.
