Shanghai May 24, 2008 – FGA (Fiat Group Automobile) together with Shanghai Football Association today announced that ‘2008 Fiat Cup Juventus Asia Pacific Tour Shanghai Stop’ has come to an end.  Parma finally lifted the “Fiat Cup trophy” which was presented by Mr. Paolo Arpellino, chief representative of FGA China. 

Held at Shanghai Stadium, this tournament adopted a novel, three-way format and each match lasted 45 minutes.  A one-minute mourning ceremony for victims of the earthquake of Sichuan province was conducted before the match.  The first match began between Shanghai Shenhua and Parma FC, Parma beat Shenhua at 1 to 0, the second match started between Shanghai Shenhua and Juventus, Shenhua beat Juventus at 2 to 1, the final match was between Juventus and Parma FC, and the score is 3 to 3, while Parma beat Juventus in the battle of Penalty Shoot out afterwards with scores 6-5. Parma finally won the Fiat Cup tournament, followed by Shanghai Shenhua and Juventus.

“We’re pleased to bring Juventus and this exciting tournament to China and its football fans, this tournament is also a part of key elements that Fiat and Fiat cars would like to deliver to the Chinese general public after the Beijing International Motor Show” said Paolo Arpellino, Chief Representative of FGA China.  The Fiat CBU cars models Bravo, Linea and Grande Punto have started order booking within Fiat dealers’ network in China.  All the three car models will be available in China market this July and September.  This tournament will just be the beginning for the new Fiat and its revival in China.

In addition to enjoy the performance of international top players, Bravo and Linea were also displayed at the court pitch as two main Fiat CBU cars.  “Fiat and football are two Italian treasures known by world; we firmly believe the Chinese fans of Italian styled football will soon become as enthusiastic fans of the beautiful new Fiat cars” said Mr. Paolo Arpellino.
