China IPR SME Helpdesk officially launched in Beijing

On May 7 2008, The China IPR SME Helpdesk held its official launch in Beijing. The Secretary General of the European Chamber attended the event as well as officials from DG Enterprise and the Delegation of the European Commission to China and Mongolia. Over one hundred representatives from the business community, Chambers of Commerce and Member States Embassies as well as representatives from China's IPR administrative organs also attended the successful event.

The China IPR SME Helpdesk is a new initiative funded by DG Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission, which aims to support European Union (EU) small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in both the protection and enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in China, through the provision of free information, training and first-line advice targeting needs and supporting EU SMEs in their China IPR decision making.

The official launch was followed by two days of free half-day workshops for EU SMEs in Beijing and Shanghai on "IPR Solutions for EU SMEs". Nearly two hundred attendees over two days received a comprehensive and informative training covering IPR basics and its value, IPR management and enforcement in China.
