China Remains the Main Source of Fake Goods Seized by EU Customs
According to the European Commission, the number of Customs interventions involving counterfeit goods increased by 17% in 2007, while the number of articles seized decreased from 128 million to 70 million. China however remained the main source of seized counterfeit goods. Customs credits right holders for filing 10,260 applications for intervention, corresponding to 80% of the interdicted goods. Two recommended national standards "Intellectual Property Literature and Information ? Basic Terms" and "Intellectual Property Literature and Information ? Classification and Code", constituted by the State Intellectual Property Office were approved by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the Standardization Administration and put into practice since June 1, which are the first national standards in IP field in China.
