SINO-EU SEMINAR ON TECHNICAL REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS
IN THE MECHANICAL AND ELECTRO-TECHNICAL SECTORS

Under the EU-China Regulatory Dialogue the EU-China Trade Project is hosting this seminar on regulations and standards in order to strengthen existing co-operation between AQSIQ and DG Enterprise & Industry (DG ENTR).
The goal is to increase awareness of EU New Approach Directives and Harmonised Standards among Chinese manufacturers with a view to achieving better compliance with applicable EU requirements.
This event will provide an opportunity to deepen the mutual understanding of the regulatory approach to product safety in both the EU and China, including conformity assessment procedures, market surveillance and standardisation.
The following sectors will be covered:
- Machinery
- Lifts
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX)
- Low Voltage
- Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC),
- Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (RTTE)
The seminar is structured around plenary and workshop sessions. For the workshop participants will split into two groups (mechanical and electro-technical).
Day 1 will mainly focus on a) Regulatory approach to product safety issues, b) Standardisation and c) Market surveillance. Presentations will cover the basic principles of the European and Chinese approach to product safety regulation, role of standardisation, principles and procedures of market surveillances.
Day 2 will cover environmental and energy product-related Issues, in particular
1.) EU Directive on Eco-design requirements for Energy Using Products,
2.) Electrical and electronic waste management (WEEE) & Restriction of Use of Certain,
3.) Hazardous Substances (ROHS) in both the EU and China,
4.) Energy efficiency and related labelling requirements in both EU and China.
Participants will include:
China: Industry representatives, relevant government officials (AQSIQ, MOFCOM, CNCA, SAC, MII, etc.), inspectors from local CIQ offices.
EU: Commission officials, Member State experts, industry representatives, European Standardisation Bodies, European Notified Bodies.
