Energy & Utility Policy Working Group Tuesday 18th April 2006, 2-4pm
European Delegation North Wing, Beijing
Tel: 010 6462 2066
We are pleased to invite you to the next Energy & Utility Policy Working Group that will be held at the European Delegation,
North Wing, in Beijing on Tuesday 18th April 2006 from 2-4pm.
The first half of the meeting will focus on the Renewable Energy Law. We will be joined by Frederic Asseline, from the EU-China Environment and Energy Program, who will give us a brief presentation on the implementation and implications of this law. We anticipate a lively discussion following the presentation, especially in light of the input we have been receiving recently. We invite everyone to attend and actively contribute.
Input from the above discussions will also feed into the second point on the agenda the 2006 Energy & Utility Policy Position Paper when we hope to further discuss the themes and issues for the paper this year. At our last meeting a number of topics were raised. Our meeting will be more productive if you are able to give some consideration to the issues that affect business operations in China and provide further input or feedback ahead of the meeting to Rhian Kelly at rhiankelly@euccc.com.cn.
Finally we will hold elections for Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson at the meeting. Over the past year the Working Group has been chaired by Xavier Chen with Daniel Assandri and Bert Bekker as the Vice Chairpersons. We are obliged to hold working group elections before the Chamber AGM, which will take place on 25th April. The Chairperson and Vice Chairperson play key roles in driving the development of the Working Group.
With support from Rhian Kelly as Business Manager, taking up this key position will enable you to help promote the Working Group's activities and communicate targeted messages on behalf of industry to senior policy makers in China and Europe. Should you wish to nominate yourself or another member of the Working Group to take up one of these roles please get in touch with Rhian Kelly.
We look forward to welcoming you at this meeting and would appreciate if you could indicate your attendance before Friday 14th April 2006.
Please note that there are a limited number of seats available.
