The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the next Rail Working Group meeting in Beijing, which will take place on 25th September from 9am. At the meeting, Mr. Gerald Ollivier, Sr. Infrastructure Specialist at the World Bank, will deliver a presentation on Recent Trends and Challenges for the Railway Sector. The China railway sector is experiencing a rapid evolution both in its markets and in its institutional arrangements. Recently announced railway reforms will have deep implications for its development and operations. The presentation will explore recent trends and challenges for the railway sector, as well as the potential implications of recently announced reforms. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session and an interactive discussion on the topic.
Mr. Gerald Ollivier joined the World Bank in 1995 and has led teams that designed and supervised transport projects supporting urban transport, port management and development, public private sector participation, port city urban renewal, transport corridor development, railway development and reform, trade and transport facilitation, road safety and rural roads. Currently Mr. Ollivier is the task team leader for seven World Bank investment loans to China. Those loans support the development of rail, urban rail and urban transport in China. He leads or co-leads a Bank team covering eight railway projects in China and a series of railway advisory and analytical activities. He leads the urban transport knowledge partnership in China, which forms the basis for the first pilot under the China Knowledge Hub, called TransFORM. He is also a civil engineer with a Chartered Financial Analyst charter.
