Result Sharing -- 2014 Talent Retention Practice Survey by Mercer
Jean Paul Sartre once said “We do not treasure things until we lose them”, a statement that resonates with many business managers and HR professionals. It has become a rather unpleasant work routine for HR professionals to regularly review the turnover rate of their organization. But from the good aspect, every time you consider about turnover and brain drain will bring you precious experience.
Broadly speaking, there are no employees who would never leave, but only employees whose needs are temporarily fulfilled. The intention to leave or stay remains private thoughts in the employees’ minds, an insight that employers should never expect to access in real-time.
Retention is an eternal topic which is simultaneously old and new. It is old because it has existed since the inception of human resources; yet it is new because the ongoing demand for talent calls for continuous innovations in retention strategies. It is eternal because behind the forces at play in the battlefield of retention are unchanging human nature and economic principles. Based on observations of economic principles and human nature, our current report surveys employee needs in a new era. We hope to provide companies with insight which, in conjunction with one’s own past experiences, will propel companies to flourish in their retention endeavors and organization growth.
