In a memorable homage to Chengdu’s rich culinary traditions, The St. Regis Chengdu will host “Hats Off”, a culinary extravaganza from Wednesday, November 5 through Saturday, November 8. Celebrity chefs Alvin Leung and Alfredo Russo will share their epicurean talent for guests and locals in a wide range of extraordinary events and activities, including interactive cooking demonstrations, a meet-and-greet reception, live buffet stations, tailor-made lunch and dinner menus and, the pièce de résistance – The Gala dinner on Friday, November 7th.
“The St. Regis Chengdu is delighted and honored to host such a prestigious and notable epicurean event,” said Richard Deutl, General Manager. He added, “As UNESCO’s first Asian City of Gastronomy, Chengdu is renowned worldwide for its culinary culture and contributions to cuisine. The St. Regis Chengdu is pleased to offer our valued patrons and guests this one-of-a-kind experience to meet Chefs Leung and Russo and enjoy their talents first-hand.”
During Hats Off, Chefs Leung and Russo will conduct live cooking demonstrations, tastings and meet with guests throughout the St. Regis Chengdu’s signature dining venues. Reservations are highly recommended as these events are expected to sell out. Below is a preliminary schedule of events:
- Wednesday, November 5 at Yan Ting – Chef Alvin Leung will create a five-course dinner for guests. Cost: RMB488+ per person.
- Wednesday, November 5 at Social – Chef Alfredo Russo will create a special four-course dinner menu including a live cooking station for guests. Cost: RMB268+ per person.
- Wednesday, November 5 at Yun Fu – Chef Alvin Leung will prepare an intimate eight-course dinner menu for guests. Cost: RMB888+ per person.
- Thursday, November 6 at Yan Ting – Chef Alvin Leung will prepare a special five-course lunch menu for guests. Cost: RMB488+ per person.
- Thursday, November 6 at Social – Chef Alfredo Russo will create a three-course lunch menu and a four-course dinner menu for guests. Cost: RMB188+ per person for lunch and RMB268 per person for dinner.
- Friday, November 7 – Gala Dinner in the Astor Ballroom. Chefs Leung and Russo will collaborate with The St. Regis Chengdu Executive Chefs Li Tok Fan and Eric Crochetière on an elaborate seven-course tasting menu paired with wine selected in-house sommelier, Tong Zhu. Cost for guests is RMB1280nett and reservations are highly recommended.
- Saturday, November 8 at Social – Chef Alfredo Russo will create a three-course lunch menu and buffet station for guests. Cost: RMB188+ per person.
- Saturday, November 8 in Yan Ting – Chef Alvin Leung will create a five-course lunch menu. Cost: RMB488+ per person.

About Chef Alvin Leung
Alvin Leung is the Founder and Executive Chef at Bo Innovation, a three-starred Michelin restaurant located in Hong Kong and London. Known for his renowned innovative X-Treme Chinese Cuisine, Chef Leung modernizes traditional recipes with the infusion of innovative techniques, flavors and presentation. Innately talented, the self-proclaimed ‘Demon Chef’ has no formal kitchen training and is only the second self-taught chef to ever receive Michelin stars.
About Chef Alfredo Russo
The Italian-born Alfredo Russo is an International Five Star Diamond Award Winner and a Michelin award-wining chef who received his star at the young age of 25 for Dolce Stil Novo, a renowned restaurant in Piedmont, Italy that Russo opened when he was just 22 years of age. He has since brought his renowned Italian cuisine to The Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers where he will create the menu for Vivaldi by Alfredo Russo, the hotel’s signature restaurant.
