EC invites members to join the Legal and Taxation Working Group meeting concerning the Catalogue for the Guidance of Foreign Investment.

Background information:

NDRC and MOFCOM have released a call for public comments on a newly revised draft of the <Catalogue for the Guidance of Foreign Investment Catalogue (2011 Version)>. According to the new draft, the number of restricted investment categories has been considerably reduced to 35 compared to a previous 79.

The aim of this revision is to implement the experience gained from China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, by expanding market access and lifting the cap on foreign ownership in the service and general manufacturing industries. Key sectors include steel, ethylene, refinery, paper, coal chemical equipment, auto electronics, liquor, branch railway, subway, international maritime transport, e-commerce, finance companies, insurance brokerage etc.
