Against the backdrop of Covid-19 pandemic, e-commerce has rapidly become a preferred means of shopping in China. As the biggest e-commerce market in the world, China has generated about 2 trillion dollars in sales in the year of 2020, with 190 thousand businesses and 1.5 million people employed, according to Motaword. Despite the massive scale of the existing market, there is still a huge potential in business growth in China. This is supported by J.P. Morgan’s statistics that about 56% of the Chinese population are yet to purchase online and that livestreaming, an efficient and influential way of market promotion, is becoming a hot new trend to do business in China. It is estimated by eMarketer that in 2021, e-commerce will take up 52.1% of retail sales in China, comparing with only 44.8% in the year before.
