The European Union Chamber of Commerce in Chinais delighted to invite you to a special edition of Insight China with one of China's most influential economic minds, Professor Mao Yushi, Chairman and Co-founder of the Unirule Institute of Economics, on October 12th at the Westin Beijing Chaoyang.
Professor Mao will present his views on China's current social-economic threats and challenges, the current status of economic reforms, the role of state owned enterprises in China’s future economic development and the structural changes needed in the financial system.
With more than a million Weibo followers, Professor Mao has become one of the most influential commentators on modern Chinese society. He is known as an uncompromising intellectual with clear views onChina's social and economic challenges ahead.
The Unirule Institute of Economics (Unirule) is an independent, nonprofit, non governmental (NGO) think tank, which was jointly initiated in July of 1993 by five prominent economists, Mao Yushi, Zhang Shuguang, Sheng Hong, Fan Gang and Tang Shouning. Unirule is dedicated to the open exchange of ideas in economics in general, with a particular focus on institutional economics and maintains a highly prestigious status within academic circles.

Speakers
Mr. Yushi Mao
Mao Yushi is Chairman of the Unirule Institute of Economics, an independent free-market think-tank he co-founded in Beijing. He is a pioneer of micro-finance and poverty alleviation programmes in the Chinese mainland and serves as the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Fuping Development Institute.
Prof Mao’s other current positions include certified consultant for the Asian Development Bank; member of the Energy Working Group at the China Council for International Cooperation for Environment and Development; Consulting Editor for the China Economic Review; member of the International Advisory Board of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council, and a number of honorary professorships. He has held academic positions at institutions around the world, including Harvard University and the Beijing Institute of Economics.
Acclaimed as one of China’s most influential economists, Prof Mao recently received the Milton Friedman Liberty Prize from the Cato Institute. He holds a degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University.
