Dear Friends of CEIBS,
We cordially invite you to attend our Executive Forum on Jan. 19, 2017, Sustainability: A Driver of Business Growth.
As China embarks on the 13th Five Year Plan, which calls for cleaner and more inclusive growth, leaders increasingly ask how the interests of business, society and the environment can best be balanced. Dow Chemical Company is a world leader in leveraging sustainability to drive both top-line and bottom-line growth. With sustainability embedded in its corporate DNA, Dow generated annual sales of nearly $49 billion in 2015 based on strategies that seek innovative science-based solutions to challenging global requirements for clean water, clean energy generation and conservation, and increased agricultural productivity. Dr. Neil C. Hawkins currently serves as Dow’s Chief Sustainability Officer and Corporate Vice President for Environment, Health & Safety. He will join us to discuss how sustainability evolved in tandem with Dow’s corporate growth strategy, and how Dow generates business value through sustainability innovation.
Dr Hawkins led the development of Dow’s 2025 Sustainability Goals and is the architect of many groundbreaking collaborations, including the Dow/Nature Conservancy Collaboration on valuing nature in business decisions, which won the 2013 Harvard Roy Family Award for Environmental Partnership. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), the International Olympics Committee Sustainability and Legacy Commission; WBCSD’s Green and Natural Infrastructure committee (chairman); and the Committee on Global Policy and Government Affairs of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), through which he co-authored the “Green Book,” or Sustainability and the U.S. EPA. He was appointed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as the first business representative to the High Level Group of the GEO-6 global environment assessment, and he has been recognized by The Guardian as one of the top 30 most influential sustainability voices in America on social media. He holds doctoral and master’s degrees from the Harvard University School of Public Health, as well as an undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech.
We look forward to seeing you at this highly anticipated event.
