Job description
Location: Shanghai Chapter
Reporting line: General Manager in Shanghai.
Direct Reports (2): Events Manager and Advisory council and Events Coordinator
The core activity relates to the development of the European Chamber image, its contacts and the visibility of the European Chamber in Shanghai.
· Events: Responsible for planning and organisation of events in Shanghai, including organisation of venues, invitations, speakers, marketing, advertising and funding of each event. Also responsible for organising key large-scale conferences in Shanghai. Prepare and present event report to the Shanghai Board..
· CEO Round Table (CEO RT): Responsible for organisation, invitations, speakers for quarterly CEO RT. Also responsible for coordinating with membership manager to maintain the most updated list of eligible member CEOs.
· Website: Responsible for the website for Shanghai local events and news: supervises the updating of the website by the Events Managers and Business Managers indicating Working Groups and activities, displaying events and business opportunities; uploads local Chamber events
· Newsletters and WeChat: Supervises the the collection of materials and preparation and the final layout of the local Newsletter, the Shanghai Focus as well as the Shanghai WeChat account.
· Promotional Material: Coordinates with BJ and the local Chapters for the preparations of the Chambers promotional material for Shanghai
· Eurobiz: Collation and monitoring of monthly SH content and news plus submission to Marketing & Communications team in BJ
· Database Management: Keep updated and ‘clean’, as well as enlarge mailing data base and WeChat followers number.
· Financial: Responsible for the profitability of conferences, seminars, events, advertising and projects. Sets budget targets to be reached by year’s end jointly with the GM. Maintain monthly revenue forecast for Shanghai Chapter Marketing up to date. Draft yearly marketing budget.
· Local Diplomats/ Consuls General Communication: Maintain effective and timely communication with diplomats in Shanghai. Keep CG database up to date, manage event invites and coordinate with GM as needed.
· AC-related Responsibilities: Bring highest standards of service to the Advisory Council members in coordination with the SG and ensure renewal of their membership, manage the activities and services for the Chamber’s Advisory Council in Shanghai Chapter together with the GM and Marketing and Sponsorship Coordinator.
Skills & experience
Desired skills & experience
· Good knowledge of EU-China issues and strong interest in China’s policy/regulatory environment.
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in the government affairs, events, marketing, PR or a related field.
· Team management experience.
· Budget management experience.
· Near native English and Chinese speaker.
· Social media platform management experience, including corporate wechat account.
· Strong research skills to understand where key developments are taking place (especially in terms of legislation) and if these have the potential to affect the European business community in China.
· Excellent project management skills.
· Outstanding verbal and written communicator.
Other desirable skills:
· Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work to strict deadlines.
· High degree of accuracy.
· A team player with a proactive and flexible approach to work with an outgoing personality.
· Computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite.
