Position Overview:
An Internship position is available at the Chamber’s Beijing Office with an immediate starting date. The intern will assist the China IPR SME Helpdesk Team (Project Manager, IP Business Advisor and Project Officers).
Project overview:
The China IPR SME Helpdesk is a project co-funded by the European Union and partially implemented by the European Chamber since 2008. The project supports European Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in protecting and enforcing their intellectual property rights (IPR) by providing training and resources free of charge. The European Chamber’s main tasks under this project includes:
- Operating an enquiry helpline on IPR for SMEs
- Development and publication of related materials (ex. Guides, brochures, article)
- Organisation of relevant training across China
- Partnership management for increased visibility of the project and cooperation opportunities
- Monitoring of IP policies and legislation in China

Specific duties include:
- Support the training and visibility events management of the project
- Assist in the project’s marketing and communications efforts by preparing newsletters, updating social media profiles etc.
- Support the project team is IP-related research, drafting of new publications and attend related meetings and events
- Contribute to administrative and reporting tasks, for example by preparing statistics, reports, quality control etc.
The internship presents an opportunity to gain valuable experience in management of a long-running, successful project of the European Chamber, in particularly in the areas of:
- events organisation
- administration, reporting
- stakeholder coordination
- access to meetings with stakeholders and event on Intellectual Property
- oversight of the opportunities and challenged European companies face in China
Skills & experience
Required Skills:
- Excellent oral and written English skills
- Strong communications skills
- High level attention to detail
- Good organisation skills, ability to multitask
- Interest in European business, project management and/or intellectual property issues
- Computer literacy, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Flexible and proactive attitude
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
Preferred Experience/skills:
- University degree in Law, Business Administration, International Relations, Marketing & Communications or other related field.
- Previous work experience (as internship, voluntary work or others)
