As a non-profit, federally owned enterprise, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is active in over 130 countries worldwide, implementing international cooperation projects and measures in the field of sustainable development and professional and vocational training. The GIZ principally implements projects on behalf of the German Government, also serving a variety of other national and international clients such as the EU, private enterprises, and foundations.
With over 30 years of experience implementing projects in the People's Republic of China, the GIZ provides policy advice on various topics and sectors relating to China’s reform process, including: environmental protection, sustainable economic development (especially renewable energy and energy efficiency), sustainable urban development, sustainable transport development, vocational training, law, product safety and consumer protection.
The GIZ project portfolio is continually being adapted to the cooperation needs of both countries within the framework of the Comprehensive Sino-German Strategic Partnership, as well as within the framework of the dynamic changes effected by Chinese reform policies. In addition, the GIZ works as both adviser and service provider at the interface between the economic and political spheres. The GIZ is also active in those fields in which German actors possess in-depth know-how and competitive advantages, and where German expertise is in high demand.
Cluster of Climate Change Cooperation, Environment, and Climate Friendly Urban Development
Germany and China signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Combatting Climate Change and initiated this bilateral dialogue in the form of the Sino-German Climate Partnership. The German Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) charged the GIZ with implementing several climate cooperation projects in China funded by the German International Climate Initiative (IKI).
The cluster currently consists of five IKI projects on the topics of climate, emissions trading (ETS), environment, low-carbon development and urbanization.

Job description:
The Cluster of Climate Change Cooperation, Environment, and Climate Friendly Urban Development based in the center of Beijing is offering an exciting position as Cluster Assistant for an ambitious and self-driven individual, starting as soon as possible.
Tasks
· Administrative support to the cluster head and cluster team
· Support translating and interpreting as needed
· Help to plan and carry out meetings, workshops, conferences and study tours
· Prepare procurement and consulting service contracts
· Responsible for travel and meeting logistics for staff and visitors
· Project dissemination such as news posting and project website maintenance
· Deskwork including filing and documentation
Skills & experience
Requirements:
· University degree or closely related qualifications
· At least 3 years professional experience on administration. Work experience in international cooperation is a plus
· Coordinative skills and intercultural competences
· Ambition to thrive the content of the work
· Fluent English; native Chinese skills; German language or other European language skills is a plus
· Work flexible and efficiently, able to handle multi-tasks with fixed deadlines
· Proficiency in communication and collaboration software, and MS-Office, including Power Point
