Job description:
The waste management and circular economy team in GIZ China is working in the field of waste management in urban, rural and ocean areas. The various projects in this team include the management of municipal solid waste, rural waste, marine litter, plastic waste, industrial waste, which contribute to the circular economy.
At the earliest opportunity, we are looking for a highly motivated project officer (m/f) with knowledge and ideally first experience in the areas of circular economy.
50% of your duties are administrative responsibility, 30% for coordination and monitoring, 20% for knowledge management. It expects an interesting field of activity in which you can participate in the sustainable transformation of the waste sector in China.
Your tasks
Your administrative tasks are (50%):
- organizing administration and logistical aspects of project
- carrying out procurement in accordance with guidelines
- document management including DMS
- financial management
- managing project inventory list
- contract preparation and monitoring
- approving and controlling expenses for project activities in accordance with the prevailing provisions
- assisting the project director in planning and managing the implementation of cooperation activities and the involvement of the public and private sector stakeholders
- preparing material for the project, including brochures for events, market study booklets
- translating and interpreting among Chinese, English (German if possible) for the project’s events and documents
Your coordination and monitoring tasks are (30%):
- coordinating and assisting in preparing and conducting project activities and carries out other activities required for implementing these components
- cooperating with the project’s national and international cooperation partners on different levels, and maintaining regular communication channels with the team for sharing information and developments
- supporting project monitoring and updates information on project progress, documents and reports regularly on the status of results
- assisting with recording and documenting the results of all activities
- drawing up media analyses, participates in fora and public hearings on issues directly connected with the project/programme
- assisting with planning, coordinating and documenting meetings, workshops, seminars and other project activities with a focus on technical aspects
- assisting with PR work for the project/programme
Your knowledge management tasks are (20%)
- assisting in drawing up reports and translations
- establishing a project database
- assisting in communicating, updating and collecting national/international industrial information
- organising and updating project/programme documentation, the filing systems and the project/programme library
Skills & experience
Your profile
- has a university degree in environmental sciences, financing, language, or circular economy
- has initial work experience in relevant areas (e.g. waste / circular economy, climate change, mitigation / measurement of greenhouse gas emissions, plastic, agriculture/finance); more than 1 year work experience in relevant areas is a plus;
- has excellent spoken and written English language skills and native Chinese; German language is a plus;
- is familiar with working in an international environment / development / political advice;
- is a strong team player who works reliably, proactively and consistently on the tasks;
- open-minded, curious and willing to learn
- experienced in dealing with MS Office
- intercultural sensitivity
Notes: This position is associated with frequent business trips within China.
