Job description
Position Overview:
The DKU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative (DKU InE) serves as a platform and resource center to encourage innovation practice, nurture entrepreneurship, and transform ideas into actions with a meaningful impact. The DKU Innovation Incubator (Dii) focuses on cultivating and supporting startup ideas from across the campus. We aim to leverage the dynamism and enthusiasm of young change-makers striving to have a positive impact on the world with their unique ideas and innovative products and services.
The Assistant Director for the DKU Innovation Incubator sustains and leverages the impact of the Dii. This role provides significant support to student entrepreneurs by coaching and developing training programs. It requires a dynamic manager capable of enhancing the operational effectiveness of the incubator, expanding its network of mentors and advisors; identifying and finding resources relevant to students and the DKU community; and supporting the development of a sustainable model for the entire innovation and entrepreneurship initiative.

Essential Duties:
1. Provide high-quality coaching and advisory support to students in various projects with the goal of cultivating an entrepreneurship culture and changemakers across campus.
2. Develop sustainable processes, procedures, and policies for the project's recruitment, incubation, and completion with high quality.
3. Develop and maintain a network of industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and academic experts to serve as mentors and advisors for the incubator's participants.
4. Initiate, nurture, and manage external partnerships with companies, non-profits, and governmental organizations within the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
5. Leverage internal partnerships with different disciplines to provide engagement opportunities for faculty and students.
6. Manage and maintain the data of the Incubator and prepare reports on program progress and outcomes for stakeholders, including local government, university administration, and funding bodies.
7. Develop and execute a strategy for the long-term growth of the Incubator and raise funds from various institutes, such as governments, industries, and foundations.
8. Support research projects related to innovation, entrepreneurship, and higher education by collecting and summarizing information from related programs.
9. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the incubator, including budget and resources to ensure they are sufficiently used.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
11. University employees' job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the University grows and complexity in its programs.
Skills & experience
Required Qualifications:
1. The candidate should at least possess an undergraduate degree. A graduate degree is preferred. Major in Business Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Technology Management, or other related fields.
2. At least 5 years of substantial experience in the early-stage startup ecosystem or running start-ups or in-depth experience of developing and running an equivalent initiative with devising and delivering entrepreneurship education and training.
3. Fluent in Chinese and English with excellent writing skills.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of business in product design, planning, marketing, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, and sales.
5. Strong understanding of current technology trends, such as intelligence, blockchain, digital transformation or the Internet of Things (IoT).
6. Understanding of higher education and the fundamentals of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in universities.
7. Experience working with young entrepreneurs, knowing how to leverage their strengths, inspire them, and understand their challenges.
8. Able to coach and advise students on their startup ideas, assist them in finding relevant resources, and provide guidance for success.
9. Excellent networking and communication skills and analytical capabilities.
10. Ability to build positive relationships across organizations.
11. Possess certain research skills, able to draft proposals, collect, and analyze information.
12. Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to quickly innovate and iterate.
13. Ability to handle ambiguity.
