Job description
Position Overview:
The Foundation Financial Analyst at Duke Kunshan University Education Development Foundation (“foundation”) is a pivotal role responsible for tracking and analyzing all kinds of data including but not limited to donation revenues and related spending, donor stewardship, endowment management, etc. The foundation works to support the sustainable development of Duke Kunshan University (“university”) in talent development, research and social service through philanthropic support, promoting and facilitating Duke Kunshan’s mission to become a world-class liberal-arts and research university with a transformational impact on higher education in China and around the globe. Reporting to the Secretary General, this position requires a blend of accounting expertise, financial analysis skills, and project management acumen to support the foundation’s mission-driven initiatives and ensure effective financial oversight.

Essential Duties:
Financial Management and Analysis:
1. Ensure accurate and timely recording and execution of all transactions, including the reception, appropriation, and allocation of donations.
2. Maintain comprehensive transaction records and documentation.
3. Support different kinds of audits carried out by internal and external bodies.
4. Monitor cash flow, balance and liquidity of different projects and foundation as a whole to support operational and investment needs.
5. Support the DKU Foundation board and committees by designing and conducting monthly, quarterly and annual financial analysis and reports to accurately demonstrate the foundation’s financial position and activities.
6. Support the other financial and accounting tasks when needed.
Endowment and Investment Oversight:
1. Assist in managing endowment funds and investment portfolios.
2. Monitor investment performance and prepare investment reports.
3. Advise the Secretary General in their collaboration with investment advisors to optimize returns while managing risks.
Project and Donor Relationship Management Support:
1. Assist in financial planning and budgeting for projects and initiatives.
2. Track project expenditures and ensure alignment with budget allocations.
3. Proactively follow up with donor relationship managers regarding acknowledgments and reporting.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.
5. Employees' job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the foundation grows in size and complexity in its programs.
Skills & experience
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. CPA, CFA, or similar professional certification preferred.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or project management, preferably in a non-profit or educational setting.
3. Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles and financial reporting.
4. Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
5. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and perform well under pressure.
6. Strong attention to detail is required.
7. Advanced proficiency in Excel. Experiences with Salesforce NPSP preferred.
8. Knowledge of endowment management, investment strategies, and charitable organizations’ financial rules is a plus.
9. Ability to communicate financial information effectively to diverse stakeholders.
10. Dedication to the mission of education and the foundation, good teamwork skills, great integrity, and work ethic.
