Position Overview:
The Alumni Engagement and Development Events Officer at Duke Kunshan University (DKU) Development and Alumni Relations Office is essential for the successful execution of DKU’s development and alumni relations strategies. This role supports both immediate and long-term objectives by fostering meaningful relationships with alumni and organizing impactful events that engage donors and prospects.

Essential Duties:
Alumni Relations
1. Alumni Engagement Programs: Support alumni engagement programs, including but not limited to DKU Homecoming, alumni reunions, city gatherings, and alumni talks.
2. Alumni Services Management: Manage daily logistics for alumni services, including benefits implementation and addressing alumni needs.
3. Alumni Data Management: Maintain accurate alumni databases with updated contact information, employment status, and other relevant details via Salesforce and DKU Alumni Website.
4. Alumni Communications: Create and execute communication strategies via email, website, social media and personal outreach.
5. Student-Alumni Connections: Lead and guide the DKU Student Alumni Board (SAB) and other initiatives to foster student-alumni connections.
6. Philanthropic Engagement: Collaborate with the fundraising team and DKU Foundation to engage alumni in philanthropic activities and encourage financial contributions through the Annual Fund, and other donation programs.
7. Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and coordinate alumni volunteers for various initiatives.
8. Event Support: Provide staff support for events and activities organized by alumni clubs.
9. Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to alumni engagement.
Development Events
1. Event Planning and Execution: Coordinate the planning and execution of key development events, including Advisory Board meetings, Foundation Board meetings, gala dinners, charitable auctions, Distinguished Speaker Series, Duke International Forum, and other high-profile events.
2. Event Materials and Design: Oversee all event-related materials and designs, including save-the-date notifications, invitations, programs, agendas, and signage, working with vendors to obtain quotes and coordinate production.
3. Donor Support: Provide support for donor cultivation, recognition, and stewardship activities.
4. Logistics Management: Manage event budgets, internal application processes, and other logistical tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned.
University employees' job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the University grows in size and complexity in its programs.
Skills & experience
Required Qualifications:
1. A minimum of an undergraduate degree is required; a graduate degree is preferred.
2. At least 3 years of experience in alumni relations, event management, fundraising, or a related field.
3. Knowledge of and/or involvement with Duke University and Duke Kunshan University, including their disciplines and relationships, with a willingness to develop an in-depth understanding.
4. Proficiency in English and Mandarin, with excellent communication skills in these two languages, both oral and written.
5. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work and partner with internal and external constituents, including alumni, donors, and vendors, as well as colleagues within the organization.
6. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
