Job description
Position Overview
The Student Clubs & Arts Coordinator at Duke Kunshan University is a part of the Campus Engagement department, responsible for a vibrant, intercultural, and impact-having student life on campus through engagement in student clubs and arts programming. This includes, but is not limited to, the supervision of student workers, oversight of student club processes, support for the Student Union, and management of arts programs. To do this, they will place an emphasis on leadership development, advising, and program implementation to create a campus atmosphere of belonging and intercultural exchange. An ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the university is essential.

Essential Duties
1 Student Clubs
o Develop and execute strategic plan for student clubs and organizations.
o Administer comprehensive support system for student clubs and maintenance of the Student Clubs Handbook.
o Create and sustain club registration, review, and resource allocation processes.
o Guide clubs on DKU and club policies as well as effective strategies for event planning, risk management, intercultural engagement.
o Cultivate leadership skills and development opportunities for members, executives, and advisors.
o Oversee club budgets and expenditures to ensure compliance and prudent fiscal management.
o Coordinate regular Club Fairs with club executives.
2 Student Union
o Support annual campaign and election processes.
o Assist the Student Union advisors in operational tasks.
o Coordinate Student Union expenses.
o Meet with Student Union members as needed.
3 Arts Programming
o Design and implement arts programs on and off campus.
o Oversee and direct annual Arts & Music Festival.
o Develop and maintain partnerships with relevant DKU and external arts stakeholders to promote arts on campus.
o Manage arts and performance related equipment and supplies for maintenance and loan.
o Communicate and promote opportunities to engage in the arts to the DKU community regularly.
4 Administration & Collaboration
o Supervise student workers; Compile regular reports for various entities.
o Maintain marketing and communication channels.
o Work and collaborate with various departments at DKU on student programs.
o Lead and/or contribute to other Campus Engagement, Student Life, and Student Experience initiatives such as Orientation, Family Weekend, Commencement, etc.
o The coordinator should also ensure programs follow Chinese and applicable U.S. laws and regulations.
5. Apply a flexible approach to work, recognizing that there will be some weekend and evening activities that may require attending and helping students meet their needs for their activities and events.
6. Other duties as assigned.
7. University employees' job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the University grows in size and complexity in its programs.
Skills & experience
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field in education, student personnel, arts, or related programs, master’s degree is preferred.
2. 2-3 years of experience working directly with college students.
3. Experience working with university student clubs, university activities, or arts programming.
4. Superb interpersonal skills, with a desire to work hard in a team-oriented, dynamic, fast-paced, environment.
5. Intercultural competency achieved and demonstrated by having lived, worked, or studied in an international, cross-cultural setting.
6. Strong organizational, planning, and English communication (verbal and written) skills.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Understanding of university student development theory.
2. Knowledge of the differences between Chinese and Western higher education systems.
3. Commitment to supporting an innovative and intercultural learning community.
4. Effective Chinese communication (verbal and written) skills.
