South China Chapter Vice Chair Meets with Guangzhou Mayor
On 5th September, Fabian Blake, vice chair of the European Chamber’s South China Chapter, delivered a speech at the Guangzhou Foreign Enterprises Roundtable Meeting. The event, hosted by Guangzhou Vice Mayor Tan Ping, was also attended by Sun Zhiyang, Guangzhou mayor and deputy party secretary. The roundtable served as a crucial platform to discuss business development, investment priorities and the challenges faced by major foreign-funded businesses in Guangzhou, with the goal of boosting confidence in their long-term growth and stability. The European Chamber was the only chamber invited to this event, where it advocated on some of the top issues impacting its members.

On 27th–28th August 2024, the Third China-Europe Energy Technology Innovation Cooperation Forum, jointly co-organised by the European Chamber, China Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute and China Southern Power Grid, was successfully held in Guangzhou. The forum, themed "Innovating Together for Shared Future – Promoting Mutually Beneficial Cooperation on Energy Technologies Between China and Europe," gathered representatives from energy authorities, embassies and consulates, industry players, research institutes and financial institutions from China and Europe. They engaged in discussions and shared insights on innovative practices in new types of power systems, hydrogen energy, smart energy, energy storage and wind power. The forum attracted 400 attendees on-site and 550,000 online.

The meeting, which lasted for two and a half hours, primarily focused on strengthening collaboration between the two parties and addressing the key challenges European companies operating in South China faced.

European Chamber Shenyang Chapter Held Meeting with Liaoning Department of Commerce
On August 7th, Mr. Leo Liu, Office Manager of the European Chamber Shenyang Chapter, met with Ms. Yang Chen, Head of the Foreign-Invested Companies Department at the Liaoning Department of Commerce. Acting on behalf of a local member, Mr. Liu discussed the member's plans to initiate a cultural and tourism project in the city. This meeting underscores the European Chamber's proactive role in facilitating dialogue between its members and the government, ensuring that member concerns are effectively communicated and addressed.
