European Chamber Attended CCPIT Online Seminar on Supply Chains

On 1st March, the European Chamber members attended the online seminar on supply chains hosted by the China Center for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). Members shared their insight and communicated their concerns over issues including China's R&D investment on the protection of intellectual property in the biotechnology field, market access for innovative technology and its market regulation, challenges in transiting to green energy, as well as second-hand chip issue in the automotive chip supply.
Chinese officials from International Trade Administration, China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) & scholars attended the meeting.

Insight Sharing: EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and China’s Footstep

On 16th February, the European Chamber Finance and Taxation Working Group held a working group meeting to share insight on the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and China’s footstep in the carbon-related tax policies.

Paolo Caridi, Policy Coordinator of DG CLIMA of the European Commission, introduced the EU’s CBAM, and Cong Zhang, Partner of Ernst & Young, provided the perspective from China side taking stock of the current tax policies in the country and sharing insight on the relevant framework discussions.

China-Europe H2 Workshop | 2021中欧氢能产业研讨会

On 29th June, the China-Europe H2 Workshop, jointly organised by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and China Hydrogen Alliance, was held successfully in Suzhou and online. The workshop was a vital part of NEA’s International Dialogue on Energy Transitions 2021, as well as an annual flagship event of the China-Europe Energy Innovation Cooperation—Hydrogen Work Stream, aiming to build an international platform for technological and industrial exchange, and promote cooperation on hydrogen industry. More than 500 people participated including Chinese and European authorities, international organisations, local government officials and key industry players.

EU-China Green Development Dialogue II: Challenges and Opportunities in Building a Green Power System

The European Chamber organised the "EU-China Green Development Dialogue II: Opportunities and Challenges in Building a Green Power System", along with the Centre for International Economic and Technology Cooperation (CIETC) of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Friday 21st May at 15:00-17:30, European Chamber Beijing Office. In this meeting, Mr Hu Zhaoguang from the State Grid Energy Research Institute focused on green power industry in China, Mr Liu Qiang from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on green energy policies, and Mr Yu Wenxuan from China University of Political Science and Law on green energy laws; while Mr William Zhao from Total and Ms Wang Hao from GIZ Sino-German Energy Partnership Project discussed about balancing between green energy and energy security, and the role of flexibility for a decarbonised power system.
