Participation in the 4th International Seminar of BRI and Low-carbon Energy

Based on the successful experience of international training from the past, the Chinese Academy of Social sciences (CASS) held the 4th International Seminar on Belt and Road Initiative with Low-carbon Energy during the period between October 18th and 27th in 2021, which is an annually program of CASS. The seminar invited participants from countries along BRI and focused on topics such as Chinese economy, international energy cooperation, global energy governance, carbon neutralizing and renewable energy. The main contents included lectures and discussion, visiting related NGOs, companies and local governments.

Keynote Speech at Sino-Europe Net-Zero Carbon Emissions Summit Forum

The European Chamber was represented by the Energy WG Vice Chair in the Sino-Europe Net-Zero Carbon Emissions Summit Forum hosted in Shanghai by TUV Rheinland, a member company involved in the Energy and Environment Working Groups. The keynote speech focused on potential areas of collaboration for EU-China in this sector as well as the current challenges and developments in wind energy, hydrogen and expectations in the lead up to COP26. Other keynote speakers included Qimin Chai, Director of Strategic Planning at the National Centre for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC) and Dr Jin Li, General Manager of Carbon Neutral Operation Centre-Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange.

On 18th September, National Chair of Energy Working Group met with the representatives of the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute (CREEI). Energy WG Networking Event: EU-China Energy Night

On Friday 10th September, the Energy Working Group has organised a social networking event "EU-China Energy Night". Around 150 representatives from the European and Chinese energy sector, including embassies and consulates, relevant ministries, key industry associations, energy companies, think tanks, etc. attended the event. The event was divided into two parts: the first part included keynote speeches from China Photovoltaic Industry Association, Biomass Energy Industry Promotion Association and Chinese Wind Energy Association on the Outlook of China's 14th Five-Year Energy Plan and Green Energy Transition. The second part was a Cocktail Party for working group members to get to know each other and interact with key stakeholders.
