Exploring Pathways to the Green Transition: The China Market and Corporate Transition
Despite the ongoing challenges of Covid-19 and the resulting economic fluctuations over the past two years, the new energy sector has continued to see staggering growth, including electric vehicles, which set new records in Chinese sales in the past year. The rapid growth of offshore wind energy and solar PV in recent years has breathed hope into global efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Whether it be at COP26 or in China’s 14th FYP, one message always rings clear: the new energy sector is key to tackling climate change and reaching carbon neutrality, and its growth is only the beginning of the global shift towards sustainable practices.
Understanding the growth of renewable energy in the past gives us reason to be more optimistic about how fast it can ramp up to meet carbon neutrality goals in the future. With the support from the Delegation of the European Union to China (EU Delegation), the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the China Association of Circular Economy, the European Chamber organised the 2018 China-Europe Industry Symposium on Circular Economy: Leading Consumption Upgrade with Innovative Circular Model to discuss a wide spectrum of topics, including the extended producer responsibility (EPR) mechanism, the green supply chain, green products, standards and labelling, and best practice on circular model of brands and platforms in consumer goods sector.

Meeting with China Council of the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) on Issues faced by French-owned Enterprises in China
A delegation from China Council of the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) visited the European Chamber and met with several French-owned member companies at Chamber office. As introduced by CCPIT, 2018 China-France High Level Economic and Financial Dialogue was to take place in France in early December. Vice Premier Hu Chunhua was going to Paris to attend the event. Before his visit, CCPIT was assigned to collect concerns and suggestions from French-owned enterprises in China, which was the purpose of this meeting.
