The Human Resources Working Group of the European Chamber is very pleased to invite you to its Breakfast Seminar on Friday 20th July 2007, 08.00 am at the Radisson Hotel in Shanghai.
China faces some of the most complex human resources challenges in the world today. While the number of graduate students in China increases steadily every year, most students are not in a position to assume employment opportunities because they have not been trained to develop the necessary qualities - such as leadership skills, creative/innovative thinking and team work capabilities. In fact, less then 10% of Chinese job candidates have the appropriate skills and qualities that are required by companies with an international angle. Moreover, there are no established channels to link companies in need of qualified staff with graduate students. On top of this talent shortage, turnover rates are on the rise, having reached 13.8% on average in 2006.Therefore, companies are lacking qualified personnel to meet their growing business needs in China and this may cause a bottleneck to the country s continued development.
The HR Working Group of the European Chamber is delighted to welcome:
Dr. jur. h.c. Wolfgang Clement, Chairman of the Adecco Insitute and Former Federal Minister of Economics & Labour of Germany
Mr. Peter Siderman, Managing Director of the Adecco Institute, who will take part in the Q&A session along with Dr. jur. h.c. Wolfgang Clement.
Dr. Clement as key note speaker will share his thoughts on current challenges that are affecting China s HR field.
The event will particularly address the following issues:
Dealing with recruitment and retention in a challenging market
Dealing with a lack of leadership talent in the market
Transition from education to work
