We are pleased to invite you to the next meeting of the Consumer Finance & Non-Banking Financial Institutions Working Group which will take place on Friday, 6th November, starting at 8.30am jointly in both the European Chamber offices in Beijing and Shanghai.
At this meeting we will have a presentation from Mr. Ning Tang, founder and CEO Credit Ease which will give a presentation on Peer to Peer lending, how the industry shaped the new consumer finance industry in China.
Mr. Tang Ning, Founder and CEO of the microfinance consulting service company Credit Ease, will offer valuable information about this relatively new type of business venture for China. Established in 2006, Credit Ease is the first company in China to provide a person-to-person (P2P) credit platform for customers. Credit Ease has successfully used the advanced micro financing model to provide easy access to credit within China. The company has helped over 30,000 borrowers obtain loans throughout China. Individuals can invest 100,000 RMB at annual interest rates ranging from 7 to 10%, depending on the length of the loan term. The company also has a microfinance lending platform, where individuals can lend as little as 100 RMB at interest rates of 2% per year to poor people in China.
As Ms. Krystina Pelikanova, Vice-Chair of the Working Group left China in order to join the European Investment Bank; we will also have the elections for the Beijing and Shanghai Vice-Chair Position.

Elections Beijing and Shanghai Vice-Chair Positions
The Chair and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, which includes a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chairs are a senior industry representative with relevant industry expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the Working Group. Previous participation in the Working Group is essential. The maximum duration of Chairmanship or Vice Chairmanship of a Group is three consecutive years. Candidates are only eligible for Chair or Vice Chair position if he/she is physically based in China and it is recommended that the member holds the position in the Chapter where he/she is physically based. Only Corporate members of the Chamber are eligible for Chair positions unless specific approval has been obtained from the Chamber’s Executive Committee. Both Corporate and Associate members are eligible to hold Vice Chair positions.
