The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is pleased to invite you to the presentation of the Paulson Institute’s report entitled China’s Next Opportunity: Sustainable Economic Transition. How Jing-Jin-Ji Can Lead The Way.
The Chinese government has prioritised the regional economic integration of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, also known as Jing-Jin-Ji. The region is home to some of China’s largest steel and iron manufacturers and accounts for roughly 10% of China’s annual GDP. The report, released in October 2015, proposes a strong policy framework that can inspire private sector innovation and investment to create a foundation for a sustainable, productive, and prosperous economy. In essence, it outlines a vision for a sustainable economic transition in the Jing- Jin-Ji region, which could ultimately inspire a similar transition across China.
Moreover, the China Academy of Building Research will present a case study of a Near-Zero Energy Building in Beijing. The building has an energy use profile that is 75% lower than a typical Beijing office building. The technologies employed include solar energy, solatubes and day-lighting, triple-pane low-E glass, LED lighting, radiant heating and cooling, and ground-source heat pumps. The near-Zero Energy Building is 15% more expensive compared to conventional alternatives, and the economic payback is 5-8 years.
