Main Topic
The main topic will be: Recruitment and Interview Skills. It is very important to recruit the right person for the right position to keep your company successful in a competitive market. That is why companies have to improve their interview skills on a regular basis.
Many different people are applying for the same vacancy. How can you find out which person is the best for the open position?
Participants are encouraged to express their concerns and ask questions. They will have the chance to present and share their experience and participate active in the discussion.
About the speaker:
Ms. Audraie Lecocq has a practical background in Human Resource Management. She is a native of Canada, where she worked as an HR professional for both the public and private sectors. Tina Molz welcomed all participants and pointed out the importance of doing a job interview properly.
2. Presentation from Audraie Lecocq, HR Executive of ClarkMorgan Guangzhou
Ms. Audraie Lecocq made a presentation about the different styles of interviews and how to create the right questions for the company’s needs. She also shared her experiences she made in her current and recent jobs as HR Manager. It was stressed out that the interview is only one part of the whole recruitment process and should not be the only tool to find the right person for an open position.
3. Round Table Discussion
In the beginning of the roundtable discussion, the Business Manager said that it is time to tell the group what kind of practices they have in their companies and ask questions.
To summarize the group came to the following conclusions:
- It was stressed out that it is important to be realistic about the company and the tasks the new employee will have in future to avoid wrong expectations and disappointment on both sides.
- Mainly all participants of the group used behavioral questions most of the time.
The group came to the conclusion that it is important to choose the right questions in an interview and to be well prepared. But the interviewer has to keep in mind that there are some biases which can influence the result of the interview. That is why it is important to have more than one tool to evaluate a candidate. For example you can use a pre screening, involve more people in the interview, do psycho-metric tests, and/or do assessment centers.
The personality is hard to evaluate during the recruitment process but plays a big role for the job performance. A candidate with good skills still has to fit also in the working team.
The better organized the recruitment process is, the higher is the likeability to choose the right candidate for the position. It was made clear that there is never a guarantee to get the perfect candidate-vacancy match.
