Dear Working Group Members,
This year, the Logistics Working Group will be going through a major structure reorganization. After the reorganization, the independently run local working groups in Shanghai, Beijing and South China will become a national Working Group. The three chapters will be more closely coordinating with each other in meetings and lobby actions.
On March 14th, 2016, 14:00-16:00, the new National Logistics Working Group will hold its first meeting on chair election and 2016/2017 Position Paper discussion. The Logistics Working Group is now calling for candidates for National and Local Chair(s)/Vice Chair(s) in 2016/2017. The Logistics Working Group Chair and Vice-Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, which includes a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings. Preferably, the candidates’ background should cover a wide spectrum of logistics service providers, including but not limited to freight forwarding, maritime transport, express delivery, warehousing and distribution, customs affairs and other transportation services.
The maximum duration of Chairmanship or Vice Chairmanship of a Working Group is three consecutive years. Candidates are only eligible for Chair or Vice-Chair position if he/she is physically based in China and it is recommended that the member holds the position in the Chapter where he/she is physically based. Only Corporate members of the Chamber are eligible for Chair positions unless specific approval has been obtained from the Chamber’s Executive Committee. Both Corporate and Associate members are eligible to hold Vice Chair positions.
Should you be interested in putting your name forward for election, please, firstly, read the attached Working Group Chairs’ Code of Conduct and Roles and Responsibilities documents. To apply, each candidate should submit a short bio and a motivation letter prior to the election to the Mr. Xiaochen Ni by Friday, March 11th, 2016 at xcni@europeanchamber.com.cn. In the email, please clearly state the position you would like to run election for. Candidates running for the role of National Chair, if not successfully elected, can opt to be included as a candidate for National Vice-Chair.
After the election, we will also discuss the 2016/2017 Position Paper and select lead pens for this year’s Position Paper. Every year, the Logistics Working Group produces a Logistics Position Paper (PP), which aims to outline an up-to-date overview of the current conditions in logistics-related sectors in China and provide recommendations to relevant government stakeholders (MOT, GAC, CIQ, MOFCOM…) to improve regulatory environment.
This year, we are happy to have Ms. Iglika Yakova from the EU Delegation to share with us recent developments in logistics industry that the EU Delegation has been closely following. You are welcome to also share your industry insights to contribute to this year’s Position Paper. Please kindly see attached last year’s Position Paper for your reference. To ensure the best flow of discussion, you are encouraged to submit Key Recommendations in advance to Mr. Xiaochen Ni at xcni@europeanchamber.com.cn, by Friday, March 11th, 2016, COB.
