The Tianjin Board Election will take place on 20th April, 2016 in Astor Hotel Tianjin while the Representatives & Chair of the Board will be elected.
The European Chamber Tianjin Chapter was established in year 2005, with the support of the local board, the Tianjin Chapter has approximately 100 members from various industries. As always, there will be an exciting contest by a number of prospective candidates, we are looking forward to seeing you there and every vote from you counts!

We will also invite Joerg Wuttke, President of European Chamber in China to deliver a presentation on Chamber recent study in Overcapacity. The report provides a detailed examination of the causes and consequences of serious overcapacity in eight important industries: crude steel, electrolytic aluminium, cement, refining, chemicals, flat glass, shipbuilding, and paper and paperboard. Based on our analysis, the European Chamber evaluates why, to date, the Chinese Government’s efforts to address overcapacity have failed and provides 30 recommendations—both direct and indirect measures—that should be taken to address this serious problem.

The election is free of charge for 1 person per member company, more people coming will be charged at 100RMB per person.
Message to European Chamber Members: Articles of Association
The Executive Committee of the European Chamber is kindly requesting members to review a proposal to amend the Chamber’s Articles of Association. The changes proposed by the Executive Committee are important and will allow the Chamber to function better by ensuring wider representation, strengthening member rights, allowing for greater continuity within the board and facilitating future elections by introducing new voting methods. Who can vote and run for elections?
You can vote and run for election if you:
1) are the Designated Representative (the main contact between the European Chamber and your company);
2) all members with operations in China;
3) have paid dues for the year 2016(please make sure that the Chamber has received and confirmed your membership payment by 20th April).
Who can attend the Board Election Meeting?
All members (including those who do not meet the requirements for voting and standing for election)who have paid their dues have the right to participate. However, only members who meet the above mentioned four criteria can vote or run for election.
How can I vote?
There are two ways of voting:
1) In person by secret ballot at the election venue. Please note that even if you have voting rights confirmed by the Secretariat of the Chamber, you must have registered for the Tianjin Board Elections in order to exercise this vote on 20th April.
2) Assign a proxy to vote on your behalf by 6pm on Monday, 18th April. Please fill in the proxy form and send a scanned copy to Henry Chen at hchen@europeanchamber.com.cn, or in person at the Chamber office.
The proxy must be a colleague from your own legal entity and must be present to vote. This requirement has only the following exceptions:
1. Individual members.
2. Corporate members based outside the city where the elections take place.
In such cases, these members may give their proxy to another individual member/corporate member with voting rights.
Proxies received after the deadline and in a format different from those listed above will not be accepted.
