Dear Working Group Member.
We are pleased to invite you to the upcoming joint Consumer Finance & NBFI and Banking & Securities Working Group Meeting, which will take place on Tuesday, 10th May starting at 09:30am, with the European Chamber Beijing and Shanghai Offices linking via video conference.
At this meeting, Ms. Josephine Yang, Team Leader responsible for Market Internationalisation Promotion, International Cooperation Department, NAFMII will present an overview of China’s interbank bond market.
National Association of Financial Market Institutional Investors was founded on September 3, 2007, under the approval of the State Council of China. NAFMII aims to propel the development of China OTC financial market, which is composed of interbank bond market, inter-bank lending market, foreign exchange market, commercial paper market and gold market.
As a self-regulation organization (SRO) in China, the membership of NAFMII includes policy banks, commercial banks, credit cooperative banks, insurance companies, securities houses, fund management companies, trust and investment companies, finance companies affiliated with corporations, credit rating agencies, accounting firms and companies in non-financial sectors.
At this meeting, we will also be holding the election for the Shanghai Vice-Chair Position. The Chair and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, which includes a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chairs are a senior industry representative with relevant industry expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the Working Group. Previous participation in the Working Group is essential. The maximum duration of Chairmanship or Vice Chairmanship of a Group is three consecutive years.. Only Corporate members of the Chamber are eligible for Chair positions unless specific approval has been obtained from the Chamber’s Executive Committee. Both Corporate and Associate members are eligible to hold Vice Chair positions. For the Consumer Finance & NBFI Working Group, it is possible to have at most one Chair and two Vice Chairs.
