Although our ever-shrinking world is seeing increased levels of diversity in the workplace, most industries still struggle to reap the benefits that drawing on cross-cultural skills can bring: doing so can enhance communication, efficiency and unity in any working environment.
This seminar draws from our speakers’ experiences of working in a unique organisational structure that employs two leaders—one Chinese and one foreign—on an equal footing. It serves as a practical introduction to cultural awareness in the workplace, providing useful strategies and techniques for embracing cultural differences and how they can be used to your advantage.
Event Objectives
- Appreciate the importance of effective cross-cultural competence
- Gain confidence in managing cultural diversity
- Create a successful cross-cultural working environment
Yew Chung International School of Beijing’s (YCIS Beijing) co-principals, one Western and one Chinese, work in partnership to provide academic leadership to each of the school’s sections. This leadership model creates a harmonious learning community, providing a role model of effective cross-cultural collaboration.
The model strengthens the academic programme, ensures equal status between the two world languages and cultures throughout the school, and reinforces students’ social and cultural competence.
During this seminar we will discuss and scrutinise this unique business model. What are the benefits, flaws, challenges of co-leadership? How can these principles be implemented to some degree in your own place of business?
If you have a cross-cultural, multi-lingual workforce, join this event and learn how to create a more efficient, productive and positive working environment.
