The healthcare industry is in for a rocky road ahead. Every aspect of the sector has to grapple with unprecedented challenges. As a result, there will be no shortcut to its revitalization other than reform and innovation. To end hospitals’ strong dependence on sky-high drug prescriptions as a way to subsidize medical services, should we establish a reasonable pricing system that will adjust the compensation mechanism? Should we put in place a drug R&D system to ensure product safety and accelerate new approvals? How can we establish a sustainable medical insurance scheme while lowering the financial risks incurred by medical services for the public? We will have to coordinate these three issues to push through the reforms needed.
The 12th Annual China Health Care Forum, which consists of a plenary session and sub-forums respectively on medical services, medical insurance, and the medicine industry, will provide government policy makers, scholars and industry leaders with an opportunity to offer their insights into China’s healthcare system reform from different perspectives, giving reassurance to practitioners in medical services, medical insurance, and the medical industry.
