Dear Working Group member,
The European Chamber is delighted to invite you to the next AFB Working Group meeting. It will be held on Wednesday 22 June, at the European Chamber Shanghai & Beijing Office via conference call facility.
Since it was approved in 1988 by US Food and Drug Administration, the application of genetically modified organism (GMO) in food production has caused great controversies among human society. Food safety, regulation, labelling, environmental impact and research methods are the major public concerns. At this meeting, Dr. Judy Wang, Director of Biotech Regulatory & External Affairs of DuPont Pioneer (North Asia), will update you the recent developments of GMO food including recent statistics of global GMO food, safety assessment and management, relevant laws and regulations and future GMO products.

Dr. Judy Wang, Director, Biotech Regulatory & External Affairs, Pioneer, DuPont North Asia
Since joining DuPont in 2005, Judy has been responsible for introducing advanced foreign agricultural biotechnology and regulatory management experience to China. In her current role, she leads DuPont Pioneer North Asia’s biotech and regulatory affairs, and biotech product registration. She is also responsible for leading strategic planning and execution for external relations with key ministries, academics, industry associations and other stakeholders. Judy has been engaged in the management of biotechnology research and development since 1996 and serves on a number of public organizations. She serves as an Expert Committee Member of the China Ag-Biotech Science Communication Platform, the Vice Chairwoman of the Public Education Committee of the Chinese Society of Biotechnology, Board member of Chinese Society of Biotechnology, professor and a consultant of the ISAAA China Biotechnology Information Center. Judy was recently named as one of “100 most influential people in biotech today” by Scientific American Worldview, a publication of Scientific American. Judy received a bachelor’s of science from Zhejiang University, a master’s of science on plant physiology and biochemistry from the University of the Philippines, a PhD in molecular biology from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and complete International MBA course from Peking University.
