Supply chain teams in leading companies have expanded their focus from preventing to predicting potential disruption. The scope of their investigations have extended beyond measuring operational and financial risk, to also assessing compliance risk and potential damage to corporate reputation caused by working with corrupt or negligible suppliers, or even suppliers of suppliers.
Like in so many industries ‘big data’ is a game changer. With supply chain truly becoming global, it is possible to analyze country and regional data to estimate the probability of (country specific) problems arising and ultimately to make smarter decisions. For example the prevalence of human trafficking in a region may be an indicator that a company in your supply chain operating in this area may merit further investigation to confirm that their operational practices are in line with the values of your company. Similarly real time media monitoring and analysis has also emerged as a key risk management tool to ensure that multinational companies know when a company in their supply chain is in the media for the wrong reasons.
It is important for companies to have as much information on their supply chain as possible so they can choose their partners and evaluate their compatibility and risk with confidence, based not on bias or gut decision, but on solid analytical evidence.
The European Chamber invites you to join Scott Chen, Product and Solution Director and George Su, Solution Leader, at Huaxia Dun & Bradstreet, to discuss some of the key developments in supply chain risk management practice and share how they are using techniques including; monitoring of big data and media analysis to help their clients identify risk and ultimately make decisions with confidence.
