According to a research paper issued by International Data Corporation (IDC) in 2015, an increasing number of executives across industries have seen the Internet of Things (IoT) as “essential to create innovative experiences and to execute operating model transformation”. The same research shows that 58% of organizations worldwide see the IoT as strategic to their business and 24% see it as transformational.
Although we have to admit that the business benefits from IoT will be realized at different paces and on different scales across industries and the world, the trend of IoT application in business can no longer be ignored. It is particularly true for industries like healthcare, discrete manufacturing, logistics, retail, etc.
In China, IoT has been frequently mentioned in government guidelines such as Manufacturing 2025 and the 13th Five Year Plan, as well as in industry-specific plans including logistics, healthcare and manufacturing sectors. But how has IoT been implemented? What are the cutting-edge technologies involved? How does it affect the business model in Chinese market? What do you need to prepare for the future? The European Chamber is delighted to invite Mr. Phipps Xue, Director of Strategic Innovation and Government Relationship, SAP, Mr. Robert Barrett, Partner at PwC and Mr. Hao Hong, Manager of Public Policy, DHL to share their insights from different perspectives.
In the seminar, we will explore:
·What is IoT and why is it important?
·What is the trend of IoT in China and the world?
·How has technology enabled IoT?
·What are possible IoT solutions?
·IoT industrial applications (logistics, energy, manufacturing...)
·What are the benefits, challenges and critical success of IoT?
