In response to ensuring consumer safety, China’s food safety and consumer products laws have evolved at a very rapid pace. While many of the laws and regulations are leading to safer foods and consumer products, some of the laws have led to challenges that the food and consumer products industry never anticipated. The so-called “professional consumer” has taken on a bigger role in policing the industry, and companies are finding these challenges to be more and more difficult to overcome.
This seminar will discuss the various laws and regulations, including China’s Food Safety Law and the Draft Implementing Regulations of the Law on Consumer Protection, as well as judicial case law issued by China’s Supreme Court, that have led to the outgrowth and, in many cases, abuse of the professional consumer. The presenters also will offer practical analysis and real-life scenarios to help illustrate how companies are dealing with and handling these very sensitive matters.
