You are cordially invited to attend the Executive Forum “The Restructuring of the Chinese Economy: Trade and Industrial Trends and their Impact on EU-China Relations” by Prof. Duncan Freeman on Nov. 10. Jointly organized by the EU Delegation to China and CEIBS, this event is part of the EU-China Public Lecture Series in China.
As China adjusts to its so-called ‘new normal’ pace of economic growth, the European Union is adapting to the mounting refugee problem, while several member states prepare for elections in 2017. What are the key economic shifts in China and the European Union? Which Chinese companies are on a merger and acquisition spree in Europe? What are some of the new trends emerging in trade and investment between China and the EU? What are some of the other bilateral developments beyond trade and investment? Can there be a win-win scenario, or should Europe get ready for changes in its ties with China?
Prof. Duncan Freeman is a Research Fellow at the Brussels Institute of Contemporary China Studies, Free University of Brussels (VUB). His research and teaching focuses on Chinese economic policy, trade and investment, the EU-China economic relationship and domestic reform, as well as Chinese outward investment. He also teaches courses on the Chinese economy at various Chinese universities, and has in-depth knowledge of the Chinese economy, trade and investment and China’s outward investment, and domestic developments in China. A fluent Chinese speaker, he has extensive experience researching and analysing the political environment in China.
