After three decades of continuous growth, in 2015, China’s GDP suffered a sharp decrease to a 25-year low. In 2016, China’s GDP grew 6.7% each of the last three quarters and the country’s total debt reached a 237% of the GDP product in the first quarter. There are reasons to be skeptical about China’s economy expansion.
Where will China’s growth come from in 2017? Where are the pockets of growth in China in 2017? Will Commodities be the Next Hot Asset Class? How will Trump’s election impact US-EU-China trade and policies?
The European Chamber is delighted to welcome Mr. Gordon Orr, Board Member at Lenovo and Swire Pacific and Advisor for McKinsey & Company, Mr. James McGregor, Chairman of APCO Worldwide Greater China, Mr. David Gosset, Director of the Academia Sinica Europaea, CEIBS, and Mr. Owen Haacke, Chief Representative, Shanghai Office of the US-China Business Council as they discuss the factors influencing economic growth in China and share their expectations for China’s economy for 2017.
