The Joint Declaration on the EU-China Partnership on Urbanisation signed by leaders of the European Union and P.R China in 2012 opened a new chapter of EU-China urbanisation cooperation. The past five years have witnessed wider, deeper and more concrete cooperation between the two sides. As 2017 marks the fifth anniversary of the EU-China Partnership on Urbanisation, the 2017 EU-China Forum on Sustainable Urban Development & Inception Meeting of 100 Pairing Cities/Programs are to take place in Putian City, Fujian Province, China on 19-21 March, 2017, organised by China Center for Urban Development (CCUD) under the guidance of China National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), together with EUCCC, EUROCITIES and JPI Urban Europe. The EU-China Forum on Sustainable Urban Development has been hosted twice in 2013 and 2015 by CCUD to meet the urbanisation challenges and share the experiences of urban innovation.
The theme of 2017 is Cooperation, Innovation & Practice. Through policy dialogues and experience sharing, this year’s forum aims to showcase the achievements under the EU-China Urbanisation Partnership, and promote the match-making of new pairing cities and cooperation programs towards sustainable urban development and common prosperity of China and the EU. The forum will gather government officials, mayors, scholars and experts, company leaders and media elites from China and the EU.
