Companies rely on information from whistle-blowers as one of the methods of fraud identification. The 2016/17 Global Fraud Report Kroll Global Fraud and Risk Report survey showed that 44% of identified fraud was reported by an internal whistle-blower. Given that 79% of fraud involved current or former employees, internal staff are a key line of defense in the battle against fraud.
The first 24 hours after a whistle-blower comes forward are crucial. How should companies respond and what measures and procedures need to be implemented? Which factors need to be taken into account before launching an investigation? Can organisations commit to whistle-blower protection?
The European Chamber is pleased to welcome Mr Calvin Dong, Associate Managing Director at Kroll and Ms Sun Hong, Partner at Norton Rose Fullbright, as they share with participants the process and methodology that companies need to implement to effectively respond to whistle blowers.
