Dear Members of the Auto Components Working Group,
The European Chamber is delighted to invite you to join the next Auto Components Working Group Meeting: Made in China 2025 and its reflection to the auto sector at 9.00-10.30, on the 12th of December, 2017, at the European Chamber Shanghai Office.
China Manufacturing 2025 was proposed by the Chinese government to achieve the goal of becoming a global leader in the manufacturing industry. The European Chamber’s publication China Manufacturing 2025: Putting Industrial Policy Ahead of Market Forces, analyses the potential impacts of this plan on European enterprises and China’s economy through a review of many aspects, ranging from its targets to the policies that will be implemented in order to achieve them. China Manufacturing 2025 lists 10 key industries to focus on and New Energy Vehicles is one of them. As the pressure increases on transferring core technology in exchange for market access, the Chamber's analysis expresses the concern of foreign companies being subject to government intervention and other types of unequal treatment in implementing this plan. Can Chinese auto companies successfully upgrade its whole competence through this period? What is the role government will play? And how will it affect foreign investment for the auto sector? These are some of the questions the automotive industry may want to figure out and the answers can determine the trends of the industry development in future. During the meeting, Mr. Lei Xing, Chief Editor of China Business Update/China Auto Review, will share with you his views on see the changing face of the automotive industry. Changes are inevitable, but how can we be better prepared for the changes that are already happening globally and particularly in China?
