Dear Working Group member,
In the week of 25 September 2017, the European Chamber of Commerce in China will be visiting Brussels to meet high-level officials and representatives of the European institutions. The tradition of annual visits to Brussels to present the Position Paper goes back fifteen years. This year, the Chamber will be able to provide the officials in Brussels with an overview of the Position Paper, right after its official launch on 12 September, 2017.
In this context, Giorgio Fortunato, Chair of the Energy Working Group, will join the trip to Brussels and will attend all the relevant energy and carbon-market related events. For this purpose, this meeting will represent an opportunity for the members to contribute to the messages to deliver to the European Institutions and to the way to approach and convey the key concerns in a meaningful way.
For your information, the following meetings have been arranged:
1. Meeting with Dominique Ristori, Director General of DG ENERGY (European Commission);
2. Meeting with Maros Sefkovic, Energy Union, VP (European Commission), TBC;
3. Meeting with Director Yvon Slingenberg, DG CLIMA (European Commission);
4. Meeting on trade barriers in the energy sector, DG TRADE (European Commission);
5. Meeting with Commissioner Karmenu Vella, DG ENVIRONMENT (European Commission);
6. Meeting with Robert – Jan Smits, Director General for Research and Innovation (European Commission);
7. Meeting on public procurement, DG GROW (European Commission);
8. Meeting with Carlo Corazza, Deputy Head of Cabinet of the President of the European Parliament (European Parliament).
You will receive via email the briefing notes that have been prepared for the energy and carbon market related meetings. These will be distributed and used as a basis for the discussion during the meeting.
While not all the Working Group’s concerns will be resolved, this is a very good opportunity to make sure your key concerns are delivered and taken into account at the highest (i.e. Ministerial) possible level.
Agenda:
- 9:30-10:00, Presentation of the Brussels’ agenda;
- 10:00-10:45, Open discussion and debates about the key messages to deliver;
- 10:45 – 11:30, Other relevant activities of Sub-Carbon Market and Energy Working Groups (i.e. plan of the meetings following to the official launch of the Position Paper).
As usual, we welcome your suggestions for possible agenda topics and speakers for this and future meetings.
Please, in order to attend the meeting, do not forget to register.
