The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to an upcoming election and policy exchange session, which will be held in our Beijing and Shanghai offices on Monday 18 September, from 16h30 to 18h. During the meeting, an update will be given on the latest developments regarding cross-border data transfer. Members will also be invited to share their opinions and feedback on recent ICT policies, including but not limited to the critical information infrastructure (CII) protection and data protection rules released by the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) and the National Information Security Standardisation Technical Committee (TC260).
In addition, we will host the 2017 National ICT Chair election. Following Michael Chang’s successful election as the Vice President of the European Chamber earlier this year, he has stepped down from the position of National ICT Chair in accordance with our election rules. The new National Chair will be elected from the two current chairs:
Caroline Chen, Head of Business Development, Deutsche Telekom / Beijing Vice Chair
Isabelle Hajjar, General Counsel & Director of Admin Services for Pivot88 / Shanghai Local Chair
Please find attached their bios and motivation letters for your consideration. Kindly note that while the policy exchange session will be open to members of both ICT and Cybersecurity Working Groups, to be able to vote during the election, you will need to be a member of the ICT Working Group and be registered for the meeting in advance. One company can cast one and only one vote at national level (including the vote of the candidate), regardless where the additional members are based and how many separate entities the company has nationally.

The desired characteristics of a National Chair are a senior industry representative with relevant industry expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the Working Group. Previous participation in the Working Group is essential. The maximum duration of National Chair is three consecutive years.
